Council Authorizes Gravel Road Speed Limit Reductions

35 MPH ON ALL LOCAL GRAVEL ROADS
The City of Grant recently adopted a 35 miles per hour (MPH) speed limit on all local gravel roads. The City Council took this action to reduce rutting and wash-boarding and to minimize the maintenance cost caused by high speeds on gravel roads. The ability to lower the speed limit on City streets was just recently granted by the State Legislature.  It is felt that lowering the speed limits makes the streets safer for all users, while still allowing for acceptable vehicular circulation. These reduced speed limits ONLY apply to local gravel roads that are currently posted greater than 35 MPH or are not posted at all.  Those roadways are: Lansing Ave North (between McKusick Rd N and 110th Street N),  110th Street North (just west of Lansing Ave N), Joliet Ave North (South of 110th Street), Keswick Ave N (North of Dellwood Rd), Lake Elmo Avenue North (North of 75th Street), Jeffrey Boulevard North (East of Jamaca Ave N), Jasmine Avenue North (North of 65th Street) 68th Street (Between Jasmine Ave N and Jamaca Ave N), Jamaca Ave N (between 68th Street and Jamaca Lane N), and Keats Ave North (South of 75th Street). All other gravel roadways will remain as currently posted.
